Lieblingsstrecken von Riederalp bis Fiescheralp

If you live in Valais, there are almost inexhaustible opportunities for hiking. The fantastic panorama of the many 4000 metre peaks and of course the mighty Aletsch Glacier are definitely among them. That's why I'd like to briefly introduce you to my favourite routes in the Aletsch region:

Number 1 - Hike from the mountain station on the Betterhorn to Lake Märjelen

I recently presented this 4 hour hike on this blog and it really is magnificent, because you can simply gaze at the Aletsch Glacier for a very long time during the hike. At the beginning, the path goes over Höckli and Stöckli, which makes it exciting, and towards the end you are rewarded with the romantic little Märjelensee lake. The Gletscherstube is well worth a break and rounds off this day of hiking.

Number 2 - Hike from Belalp over the suspension bridge to Riederalp

You will hike for a good 5 hours and by the time you reach the suspension bridge you will have easily travelled 3 hours. That's why I recommend taking a break just before or after the suspension bridge. The gorge over the 125 metre long suspension bridge is impressive and then you walk through the really very natural Aletsch forest. Pure nature! The hiking trail ends at the Restaurant RiederfurkaBuy the Circular hiking ticket.

Number 3 - Ridge hike from Bettmeralp to Riederalp with breaks at the ViewPoints

The ridge walk takes two and a half hours and is not difficult. The ridge path is also suitable for children. You walk towards the sun while enjoying the panorama. Take advantage of the viewpoints on the glacier. At the end, stop off again, this time at the Villa Cassel with the Pro Natura Centre. This hike is also possible in winter.

Number 4 - Walk from the Fiescheralp to the Bettermalp

This is definitely more of an excursion now. Sometimes you have days when you don't need to hike for hours, when you just want to be. And this is one of those routes. In the hiking season you eat blueberries on the way, in the skiing season you might want to take a day off skiing. You can take a sledge for your child or go snowshoeing. Stop off at the Bättmerhitta. It's cosy and serves good food.

Number 5 - Walk from Bettmeralp to Betten

A long walk that goes steadily downhill. But there are some really beautiful Maiensässe to look at. It's also fun in winter on a sledge. It takes 2 hours on foot to reach the intermediate station in Betten. Sledging with short breaks - after all, you have to admire the Maiensässe and the view - it takes half an hour. What, the sledging is over already? No problem. Jump on the cable car and repeat the fun.
