Restaurant Bättmerhitta on Bettmeralp

We recently visited the Bättmerhitta restaurant in the Aletsch Arena. On a leisurely hike from the Fiescheralp in the direction of Bettmeralp, we actually wanted to go for a cream slice. A lot of people were waiting for us. In fact, it was so busy that we had to wait. I think that speaks in favour of the hut being busy. Once we were seated, we decided to have something warm to eat instead of just coffee and cake. A good decision!

Family-run business with Valais dishes

I like the rustic ambience in this Alpine pub and everything outside also feels very relaxed. The long tables invite you to sit together as if you knew each other. Unfortunately, I don't know how long the Bättmerhitta has been in family hands. The pictures inside the restaurant are certainly not recent.

The recipe for the dish of my choice - a cholera - came from Grandma Helene. By chance, the landlord's nephew was sitting at the next table and told me. My husband opted for the beef sausage with saffron risotto. I tried the risotto and both dishes were very tasty. Unfortunately, my stomach was too full for the cream slice.

Offers around the hut

If you google Bättmerhitta, you will find that the hut is very popular in both summer and winter. On a sunny plateau, it offers a wooden ball track for children in summer and a single trail for mountain bikers leads past the restaurant.

In winter you will find a snowtubing track and adults are not forgotten either, because every full moon you can enjoy a fondue in the Bettmerhütte. Dates and prices can be found here.

Aroused your curiosity? I have to go again. After all, my cream slice is still pending.

G’mietlich sii in ’ner Hitta? Wier si derbi.
