Summer vacation is just around the corner. You might be thinking about sending your child to summer camp so they can have some new experiences. Personally, I only really associate that sort of thing with the Scouts or with big corporations that offer it for their employees' children. My father worked for a company like that, and I never wanted to go to one of those camps. Neither camping nor being away from home for three weeks ever appealed to me; for me, spending the holidays at my grandma's place was the absolute best.

Nowadays, children are offered activities tailored to their individual interests, since not every child enjoys roaming through nature. Parents look at their child's talents. It’s fun! I don’t recall there being any dance or singing activities during my youth—at least not in the form of a summer week spent with peers. I would have enjoyed that, too.

Musical project week on the Bettmeralp

What a fantastic idea! Spending a whole week rehearsing a musical with like-minded people, trying new things, and making friends—all culminating in a moment in the spotlight on stage. Each day involves rehearsing, singing, and dancing together from morning through the afternoon. In the evening, the young participants share their experiences and feel the excitement and anticipation building up to the performance.

The musical trial event begins on July 12, 2026, and costs CHF 345. Children and young people aged 8 to 13 are eligible to participate. You can find registration details and full information on voicesteps .

And what do you do during this time? How about hiking, bikinggolfing, or just chilling by the lake? In the evening, you can share your experiences over a relaxed "Aabund" (evening get-together). There is no shortage of things to do in the Aletsch Arena in summer—not to mention the pleasant temperatures at an altitude of 2,000 meters. And one thing not to be underestimated: having a happy child by your side.
