Time for ski touring

Aletschgletscher im Winter

It's mid-April, and the peak season crowds in the ski resorts have subsided. There's plenty of snow, and the weather is typical of Valais: pure sunshine! Time for panoramic views, tranquility, and spring snow. Simply enjoy this white paradise and challenge your skiing skills. The following ski tours lead across glaciers and take approximately 5 hours. Generally, ski tours are possible from all three ski areas – Riederalp, Bettmeralp, and Fiescheralp – in the Aletsch Arena. If you are inexperienced, you should definitely hire a mountain guide.

From Riederalp to Fusshorn bivouac

The ski tour starts at Moosfluh on the Riederalp and lasts 5 hours with 830 meters of ascent and 320 meters of descent. The Fusshorn bivouac offers 10 sleeping places and is only accessible with a key. Further information about the bivouac hut, including reservation options, can be found here.

From Fiescheralp to the Konkordia Hut

The tour starts at the Talegga chairlift mountain station, passing Lake Märjelen. It takes almost 5 hours with an ascent of 710 meters and a descent of 520 meters. The Konkordia Hut is open from March to the end of May. Online reservations can be made directly through the Konkordia Hut website .

Ski tours to the Oberaletsch Hut

The standard winter route to the Oberaletsch Hut is only accessible from Belalp and takes approximately four and a half hours with an 800-meter ascent and a 290-meter descent. The hut offers exclusively vegetarian food, with the exception of dried meat. Online booking is also available for the Oberaletsch Hut .
