From the Riederfurka to the Herrenweg

If you would like to hike to a rustic corner of Riederalp, then walk from Riederfurka along the Herrenweg. That's what the locals call it. The half-marathon route also runs along a section of this path. Runners promptly jog past. That doesn't mean you have to be ambitious. The path is signposted, easy to walk and not long either. More like a Sunday stroll. Enjoying nature is more important in this case. Especially if there is also something to learn. For example, Mister Churchill - yes, you read correctly - spent his holidays at Villa Cassel several times. In the process, he was disturbed by the cowbells!!! A mystery to me. There is really nothing better for relaxing than this ringing of cowbells. What is also interesting is that several trees are over hundreds of years old and have godparents.

Coffee break at Villa Cassel

And of course the fantastic view of the Belalp opposite, the reservoir and the Aletsch glacier. The hike through the Aletsch Forest takes about an hour and a half and you will definitely pass Villa Cassel. And you know what the good thing about it is? There's homemade cake there.

En schöne Tag mit Chie glitt.
