A shady bisse path - Fiescher Wyssa
At the beginning of September, we hiked the Fiescher Wyssa with our family. This irrigation channel trail is located above the Fieschertal valley and is about 5 km long. The sun was shining brightly that day, so we relaxed along the shady forest path heading south.
Start at the village square of Fieschertal
The village square of Fieschertal is the starting point. Cross the bridge over the Weisswasser River and soon turn right into the ascent along a rocky, root-filled path, which you'll have completed after a quarter of an hour. From there, it's simply along the bisse towards Fiesch.
From Fiesch back to Fieschertal
After about an hour, the bisse path ends after passing under the cable car and reaching the road to Obermatta. From here, you can continue along the bisse path towards Lax or turn right 50 meters above and walk back to Fieschertal along the Lagger Wyssa, which runs parallel to the Fiescher Wyssa.
We chose the third option and walked down the road through the Egga district, following the Ob dem Biel path, to Fiesch. Once in Fiesch, you follow the road toward Fieschertal, then, after the railway crossing, follow the hiking trail again outside Fiesch. This hiking trail, called Kirchweg, runs through meadows to the entrance of Fieschertal. Instead of crossing the bridge, you return to the starting point on the left bank of the river.
I recommend a stop at the village square in the Hotel Alpenblick with a cozy outdoor terrace
