Traditional September weekend

And every year the marmot greets us. Yes, a traditional weekend in the Aletsch region is taking place again this year. This year from 13 to 15 September 2024. Do you like tradition? Then why not combine this Alpine event with a long weekend on the Riederalp or Bettmeralp? If the current weather remains stable, a week's hiking holiday with a crowning finale would also be an option.

Candlelight dinner in the old days

Dining by candlelight in the 21st century seems unusual, but also exciting. This is possible at the Restaurant Alpina on Bettmeralp from 6 pm. Spend the time before this cosy evening with a short walk in Golmenegg or walk the Moosfluh geology theme trail.

You can also combine the village tour in Betten at 6.30 pm with a hike of approx. 2 hours by walking from Bettmeralp to Betten. The route past the beautiful Maiensäss takes you to Betten, from where you can take the cable car back up to Bettmeralp. If you are staying overnight on Riederalp and would like to save yourself the walk along the Aletsch promenade, walk from Betten to Greich to reach Riederalp directly.

Street festival with promenade

On Saturday from 11.30 am the "Challenklub" marches through the village of Bettmeralp and you can enjoy live music and old craftsmanship.

Try Gilihüsine

At the end of the eventful weekend, it's time to try out gilihüsine, an early form of hornussen. Non-professionals can also take part. The event takes place at Bettmersee. This event can also be easily combined with a hike on Lake Bettmersee .

Please note that the number of participants is limited. Please register in good time at info@aletscharena.ch

And perhaps an eventful weekend is coming to an end for you. Have great holidays.
