MTB event from 12 July to 14 July 2024

An event hub for the UCI MTB Enduro World Cup will take place in Fiesch on the weekend of 12 to 14 July 2024. There will be a fan zone because the start and finish areas are located there and of course there will also be something to eat and drink. You can find more information on the Aletsch Arena website or on the WWW.

I would prefer to introduce you to the existing trail routes in the Aletsch region. Almost anyone can cycle, but mountain biking is a different kettle of fish. The Flowtrail Wurzenbord, which I have already reported on, is ideal for practising.

MTB-Tour Bettmeralp-Fiescheralp

Finished practising? Then off you go with a MTB ride from Bettmeralp to Fiesch. This gets you in the mood for the World Cup right away and makes it much easier to share in the excitement. The starting point is at the valley station of the Bettmerhorn gondola lift. Starting from there, you pass the Bettmersee lake and head west towards the destination of Fiescheralp. Pass the Bättmer-Hitta restaurant in the direction of Schönboden See. Ride along this for a while and finally reach the mountain station at Fiescheralp to take the cable car to Fiesch for the event. The route alternates between trails and natural roads and takes an hour. As you want to get back to your accommodation after your excursion, take the gondola lift in Fiesch again.

Return to the middle station in Betten

You haven't had enough yet? There's still more to do? Then head west through the Rhone Valley via Lax and Martisberg to Betten to the middle station and take the gondola from there to your accommodation. This stretch from Fiesch to Betten is 10 kilometres long. As the route climbs steadily from Lax, you will need at least 1 hour. This part of the route is a section of the Family Aletsch Tour.

Get an Aletsch Bikepass for more fun

The race routes for the enduro event have not yet been published. So please enquire at the information desk whether my proposed route is open to tourists. There is the Aletsch Bikepass, which gives you free use of the feeder lifts and some gondola lifts. And remember: enjoy the view, take a break by the lakes, listen to the silence and relax.

Drum liäbä jede Tag. Wä nix meh geit, isch‘s de z’spat.
