High pressure weather in the Alps

Höhenweg Moosfluh - Riederfurka

High pressure weather at the moment! And not only that. The air is so dry that the visibility is also fantastic. So, get out of the house into the fresh air and enjoy the Alps, skiing, winter hiking, snowshoeing, you name it. It has snowed again and you have to make the most of it. The last few years have not been so rich in this combination. Fresh snow followed by beautiful weather, I mean.

Winter hiking trail Moosfluh towards Villa Cassel

This hiking trail is very well known and is therefore very popular. In winter and summer. In fact, it offers a magnificent view of the Aletsch Glacier at the Moosfluh viewpoint. From there, you hike along the ridge towards the sun. The trail goes steadily downhill and still has hilly moments. All in all, a hilly trail. The view is exciting. You can see the Matterhorn and the Weisshorn in the distance. Stop every now and then, take a souvenir photo and breathe deeply. Look far and open your heart.

Circular hike with refreshment stop

This hiking trail can practically be hiked all the way round. Depending on where you are staying, you can start on Riederalp and walk the panoramic trail to Bettmeralp through the village to the Moosfluh gondola lift. Or you can stay on Bettmeralp and start with the Moosfluh gondola lift and walk back to Bettmeralp at the end point (Villa Cassel) through the village of Riederalp. And of course you stop off at the end point. Although Villa Cassel is closed in winter, you will find two other options for taking a break and sunbathing in the same place.
