A Kneipp facility, i.e. several naturally constructed water treading pools filled with mountain water with benches for resting. Do you know Sebastian Kneipp? The older generation among you will answer in the affirmative. Mr Kneipp had a vast knowledge of medicinal plants and cured his lung disease with cold water baths. Modern people call this hydrotherapy, the use of water at different temperatures to treat cardiovascular diseases, arthritis and migraines, to name but a few.<\/p>\n<h3>Treading water strengthens the immune system<\/h3>\n<p>The special thing about treading water is the stork walk, i.e. one leg is always completely out of the water. The different pressure on the blood vessel walls caused by the change from cold water to warm air improves blood circulation and revs up the metabolism. Studies have shown that treading water toughens you up. Remember that toughening up does not mean healing.<\/p>\n<h3>Refrain from treading water<\/h3>\n<p>In fact, you should refrain from treading water if you have certain diseases that affect the kidneys and bladder or if you are menstruating. It is likely to have a counterproductive effect, as if you were sitting on a cold stone.<\/p>\n<p>The autumn season is almost over.
