Especially if you're on vacation in Valais. And as I have already mentioned several times in my posts, the view from the Aletsch Arena of the many 4000-metre mountains is phenomenal. That's why you should plan a day of winter hiking at altitude.<\/p>\n<h3>Ridgeway adventure trail no. 101<\/h3>\n<p>The ridge path starts at the Moosfluh mountain station and takes 1-2 hours. A good starting point is at the Riederalp mountain station, for example. Take the path through the village to the Moosfluh valley station. Once you have left the gondola ride behind you, walk to the viewpoint to see the imposing Aletsch Glacier. And then it's off you go.<\/p>\n<p>The winter hiking trail begins to the left of the piste at the Moosfluh mountain station and is signposted from this point onwards. The winter hiking trail crosses over the ski slope to the other side at a clear point along the way. The trail climbs steadily up and down towards Riederfurka. If you are worried about slipping when walking downhill, you should use spikes for your shoes. Even a sledge for the little ones makes sense on some sections of the trail.<\/p>\n<h3>Alternative routes with starting point on Bettmeralp<\/h3>\n<p>If you spend the night on Bettmeralp, there are several alternatives. You can either walk along the Aletsch Promenade towards Riederalp to the valley station. This will probably add a good half an hour to your excursion. Or you can take the Blausee chairlift, get off at the middle station and walk to winter hiking trail no. 104 to then join the ridge path. Unfortunately, I have no information about the length and duration of this option.<\/p>\n<h3>Restaurant Riederfurka with a view of the Villa Cassel<\/h3>\n<p>The path ends below Villa Cassel, which is closed in winter. A little further on you will find the Riederfurka restaurant. From there, the trail descends back to the Riederalp mountain station. A break in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aletscharena.ch\/en\/aletsch-arena\/food-drink\/gastro\/restaurant-riederfurka\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Restaurant Riederfurka<\/a> with a view of the Villa Cassel will do you good.
