Playing instead of skiing

Gletschi und Gletschiland

What a great winter break! Finally, skiing and having fun. But for me, there are limits when it comes to the weather. Of course, many people see it differently. You're on a ski holiday, so you go skiing. Fog? You still ski. Icy wind? Just bundle the kids up. Slushy snow? Doesn't matter. After all, you only have one week of free time and freedom. Understandable! But your child doesn't understand that right now. They want to do something else. Play instead. So what now?

Meet and greet Gletschi

You can meet the Aletsch Arena mascot every Wednesday at the children's disco in the Hotel Alpfrieden from 3:30 pm. Gletschi loves to dance! And because Gletschi is so photogenic, you can meet him for a photo shoot on Sundays at the Bettmeralp ski lift from 10 to 11 am. Both meetups are free. Gletschi also has his own playground, Gletschiland , at the Bachtla Sports Centre. You're less likely to find the glacier flea there, but you can try out which playground equipment he likes. Gletschiland costs CHF 10 for a day pass per child aged 4 and up.

Ice skating on the natural ice rink

Besides the Bachtla sports center, there is also the option of ice skating. Skates can be rented at the sports center. Use of the ice rink is free.

Schlitteln für die Kleinen

At the Kindersonnenland by the chapel in Bettmeralp, your child can sled for free and play in the snow. Enjoy a coffee nearby and watch your child play. If that's not enough, you can rent a sled and sled with your child. Due to snow conditions, it's best to check in advance which sledge runs are open. And remember: you can share a ski pass. Check before purchasing your ski pass. You and the second babysitter will need a photo together for a childcare ticket.
